Budget Costuming
Custom Mandalorian armor
This is one of the most recent costumes Shawn and myself made and are based on one of our favorite characters. The entire costume is made out of a plastic called sintra, it comes in sheets of varying sizes and thicknesses. We used plans that were obtained from The Dented Helmet to build most of the suit, using my own designs for the backpack and gun holsters.
Initially my suit was designed with Canada Flag cape and a Canadian flag on the right shoulder pad, this was because its initial test run was in a Canada Day parade. The suit is currently being redone with a different cape and possible shin pads.
Shawn's suit is designed along the same templates, using the Jango Fett plans, basically the same but with shin and thigh plates. his is also made out of sintra but the helmet was made from a mold and is fiberglass.
Both costumes use a work suit for the base of the suit, you can usually get them at a hardware or tractor supply store. The visors were made from replacement welders shields and the helmets are cooled by small computer fans.
